Long story short, our alternator went out while traveling from Salt Lake to Death Valley for Thanksgiving in our '76 Westy. After an Autozone misdiagnosis of regulator and a redirect from another VW shop our good fortune lead us to Meyers shortly before closing time the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Jose came out to the parking lot while obviously busy and while still on the phone started checking the car. He diagnosed our problem as alternator. Then he disappeared for 15minutes and came back to inform us that there were no alternators available in Vegas or in the US for overnight. He had however arranged for a local rebuilder to do ours in the morning.
He called a hotel for us and handed the phone to us to make our reservation. While we were unloading the van the latch on the sliding door broke and we could no longer open it. Jose said "No problem, we have a bunch of those." We added it to the work order and he drove us to our hotel.
The next evening (just before closing time on the day before Thanksgiving) he came and picked us up in our van. Alternator and door handle in perfect working order. He had also noted it was running rich and had adjusted that and fixed a bunch of dirty connections as well.
Work was excellent, price was reasonable, and service to stranded travelers was astonishing. Absolutely the best find we could have imagined. We made it to Death Valley for Thanksgiving thanks to Jose and the people at Meyers.

Always a pleasant experience! Meyer's always has or can acquire the right parts for the right price. I recently had to purchase a cooling fan assembly for my VW Golf, and the dealership wanted +$600 claiming it was a multi-piece special order, blah-blah. I called the South Decatur location and spoke with Josh, and he had the exact part I needed for a fraction of the price!
